Kaolin Clay doesn’t add color to soap, but it more than makes up for it with the luxurious, creamy lather it creates. It makes soap feel so smooth and gentle on the skin. It’s also wonderful for anchoring lighter scents, helping fragrances last longer in your finished bars.

Use Notes

Kaolin clay is often used to anchor scent. To make a clay/scent slurry, simply add clay directly to the fragrance oil, then blend it very well.

Clay should be mixed with water before adding to cold process soap. Mixing well before adding to soap will help prevent clumps or streaks. Mix 1 part clay to 1 part water until fully saturated then add the mixture to your soap.

Use Rate

  • CP Soap: 1-2 teaspoons per pound of oils.
  • MP Soap: .5 teaspoon per pound of soap base.

More or less can be added to achieve your desired color.
